The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, around now for nearly two years, offers incredible value for money for people on a budget. In fact, there are just a few minor differences between this phone and the newer, more expensive Samsung A54 or A55. There is an improvement in camera performance with the newer model, but if your budget is tight, then this presents a viable and value alternative. Whether you prefer the glass back of the A54 or the curved camera island on the back of the A53 is probably down to personal preference.

In a lot of ways, the Galaxy A53 5G is the next best thing if you can’t afford a Galaxy S phone. It’s a mid-ranger through and through, but it punches above its weight in some areas. You won’t find many phones with as good of a media consumption experience as this phone’s with its beautiful display and amazing speakers. The camera isn’t flagship tier, but it gets the job done with good flair. You’ll be able to take some nice pictures that will look good on social media. The only letdown in my experience has been the performance. This phone is going to lag at points in your usage, and you won’t be able to play the most graphics-intensive games.

We’d also be very tempted to consider the Google Pixel 6A as an alternative, as this is a similar price and offers a great dual camera setup.

The Galaxy A53 5G is a remarkably well-rounded rival to this year’s high-priced flagships. If your sights are set on the Galaxy S22 but you don’t have the funds to buy one, then the A53 5G is every bit the next best thing. It simply brings so much to the table that I’d be mad not to give the Galaxy A53 5G a Best Buy award. It’s not perfect but, at this price, nothing ever is and, besides, it gets pretty darn close.

In terms of performance, it could also be a bit better - its performance is probably even worse than its predecessor, which already looks a bit strange. I invariably complain about the lack of a minijack, and others may be disturbed by the lack of a premium-style housing. There is also a price at which Galaxy A53 5G debuted - I would not call it a bargain. But remember, there are promotions, and in promotion you can think about it more.

While this smartphone has many strengths such as an elegant design, impressive display, and great cameras, alongside a massive battery and 5G connectivity. The phone doesn’t look underwhelming in any way. Though there are some compromises such as missing wireless charging and reverse charging support, still the device specs are quite appreciable as you get a decent all-around package. The only concern for this smartphone is a bit high pricing, so you must check for alternatives such as the Realme Narzo 50 Pro which comes with similar specs in a decent price range, however, the final decision is up to you.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is a reasonably priced, reliable, pretty, and capable everyday smartphone, suited to anyone who isn’t going to be playing demanding games for hours each day and is mainly interested in the camera for photos to share with friends online. The Galaxy A52’s major downside, the fingerprint sensor, has been fixed for the A53, but the strife it caused has been replaced by sluggish performance in some situations. It’s not so bothersome you’ll hate the phone, though, and I’ve used it happily as my primary device without wanting to change my SIM early. You’re getting Samsung’s overall quality, its highly livable software, and a screen built for great-looking video — all for less money than the predecessor cost. The Galaxy A53 5G is a recommended, and very sensible, purchase, but it’s slightly disappointing it doesn’t look or feel like a step forward compared to the A52 or A52S.

The Galaxy A53 5G doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it doesn’t have to. Instead, Samsung refined the already impressive Galaxy A52 5G and lowered its asking price by $50. The lower price ends up being the cherry on top because the overall package is one of the most impressive you’ll find for under $500. If you already have a Galaxy A52 5G, there’s not enough new here to consider an upgrade, but if you’ve been looking for a reasonably priced way to enter the Samsung ecosystem, the Galaxy A53 5G is an excellent gateway. Samsung’s quartet of rear cameras delivers the goods, both day and night, with the only blemish being the lack of 4K/60fps video recording. The large, 6.5-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display is crisp and smooth, making video streaming enjoyable. You should have no issues pushing the 5,000mAh battery to its limits and it’s not too slow to charge relative to its competitors in the US (outside is another matter). Meanwhile, the Exynos 1280 chipset is far from the most powerful around and may begin to show its age a few years down the line, but it’ll keep pace with your daily needs for a good while.

There are no perfect smartphones, but there are successful models. Samsung launched the optimally balanced Galaxy A52 last year, and now it is being replaced by the Galaxy A53. This happens to be one of our favorite phones we’ve written about since the Samsung Galaxy A02 Review. Is it a twin clone with a new index or is it an improved model? The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is one of the most standout phones in its price range when it comes to design, display and camera quality. Full of features, it also bravely attempts to distill Samsung’s OneUI 4.1, found in the Galaxy S22 Ultra, into a more affordable package, and on the surface, it succeeds. Slowdown across the interface – whether typing, swiping or tapping, unfortunately stops the Galaxy A53 5G’s highlights making it a great phone across the board, which is a crying shame. If you love the A53’s design and are okay with the idea of waiting for your phone to catch its breath, then by all means, pick up Samsung’s handsome mid-ranger. It gets a lot right. If, however, you’re as impatient as us, grab a OnePlus Nord 2 or Realme 9 Pro+, or save your pennies and pick up an S21 FE, a Poco F3, or a Poco F4 GT.

If you’re on a tight budget, I think the Galaxy S53 is an incredible phone. For $450, there’s really no other device that will deliver everything this phone does, especially in the US, right now. That being said, if you’re willing to wait a few months, Google’s $450 Pixel 6a will go on sale in July and could give the Galaxy S53 a run for its money. The Samsung Galaxy A53 is one of the best mid-range phones you can buy in 2022, but Samsung should be worried about the upcoming Pixel 6a.

Is the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G worth buying? I would say, yes, the phone is a great option for anyone that is looking to get the maximum bang for their buck in 2022 without making too many concessions. If you want or need something better, I’d advise that you either wait for the Pixel 6a or pay $150 more today and get the Pixel 6 – it has a better camera, a better CPU, and superior software. But it is more expensive.

We have said the same thing when it comes to the more recent Galaxy S devices, but Samsung has a strong formula at the moment and you know precisely what you’re going to get – a reliable phone packed with features built to last and delivering little fuss. The same goes for the A series and the Galaxy A53 5G here. We only wish Samsung kept the bloatware to a minimum and went back to offering chargers and covers in the box. It’s a great value for money mix that did not need tinkering with. If you can stomach the fact that you’ll need to buy the two aforementioned missing elements alongside the A53 5G, this is a device will stand you in good stead and easily dispel any desires to upgrade for a few years.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G struggled in almost all of our battery tests, resulting in a below-average performance when compared with our entire database. Poor overall efficiency, mainly due to its high discharge current and its low charge efficiency, as well as its weak charging performance (especially in the autonomy gain after a 5-minute charge) all contributed to the A53 5G’s weak score. Overall, autonomy is below average. Whether scrolling on social apps on the go or when streaming music and gaming in calibrated mode, the device just couldn’t hold up. When comparing the Galaxy A53 5G with other similarly priced devices in the High-end segment ($400–$599), it did not fare better. It has the lowest efficiency score for its segment, weighed down by the lowest discharge subscore, and it stands second to last in charging. As of this writing, it ranks last to date among the High-end devices we have tested.

The lack of a dedicated tele lens means that images captured at tele zoom settings lack detail and show high levels of noise. This is especially true for long-range tele settings. On the plus side, exposure and color are generally good. For video, we tested the device at 1080p resolution and 30fps as video stabilization at 4K resolution is very ineffective. In video mode, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G records well-exposed video clips with vivid colors. Video stabilization is pretty good for the A53’s segment but unfortunately, an unstable autofocus means outdoor and low light videos are often not usable. When the autofocus does its job, the level of detail in 1080p mode is generally quite low. Dynamic range is limited as well and white balance often turns orange in low light. Video artifacts such as color quantization, ringing or ghosting are frequently visible.

The A53 5G, released in March of this year, is a midrange offering that from the outside shares a similar style and size to the S21 Ultra. At this lower price point, however, it lacks the top-end chipset and some other flagship extras. On the audio front, it has stereo speakers. No audio jack is on offer, but the standard USB Type-C port can serve double duty, charging and delivering sound to headphones. With a global score of 73, the A53 5G surpassed last year’s A52 5G, which notched a 69. At this price point, the A53 is a very strong contender. The Samsung device delivered an all-around solid performance in our audio testing, with an especially pleasant sound in playback (the first time our engineers have noted decent bass rendition in a Galaxy series), and impressive performance at high volume. As a recording device, the A53 also delivered a strong all-around performance, although it wasn’t as adept in capturing high sound-pressure-level content.

An attractive phone with a good-looking screen and impressive cameras for the price, the Samsung Galaxy A53 offers good value for money overall; but with its slow charging and stuttery performance, it’s not for everyone.

The Galaxy A53 is a brilliant mid-range phone, with an excellent display, top camera, and software support bested only by Apple. But it suffers from one massive flaw: poor performance. At this price a phone shouldn't be so slow, and it makes the A53 difficult to wholeheartedly recommend.

I'd look at other options first. At $450, the Galaxy A53 offers a great display and snappy performance (typically) — plus legendary software support. Samsung's committed to four years of OS updates and five years of security patches. That's as good as you'll find on any Android phone right now, and it makes the Pixel 5a — which launched last year and is slated to stop getting updates in summer 2024 — look foolish. It's actually longer support than Google is offering even with its Pixel 6 series. But with inconsistent camera performance and year-over-year downgrades like the removal of the headphone jack and bundled charger, the A53 isn't the easy win the A52 was, even if it is 50 bucks cheaper. At the very least, wait and see what the Pixel 6a is all about — we could know as soon as Google I/O.

At a base price of Rs 34,499, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is a fairly decent deal for the money. The smartphone has a comfortable grip and a decent design. Galaxy A53 5G is an excellent choice for those who don’t play a lot of games or do anything that requires a lot of processing power. A good primary camera, a great display, and a long-lasting battery round out the highlights of the phone. The choice made by Samsung to not include an adapter in the retail packaging may not sit well with all customers. Apart from that, the phone has best-in-class software support and an IP67 rating. All in all, it’s a mid-range phone that’s ready to take on anything.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is a pretty good buy at a starting price of Rs 34,499. The smartphone feels good to hold and looks decent. Although one may find it similar to its predecessor, Samsung Galaxy A52, it does offer significant updates when it comes to processor and battery. With impressive battery life, smooth functionality and premium design, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G delivers reliable performance. The smartphone is a good option for anyone who is looking to buy a premium smartphone in the Rs 35,000 segment.

Initially, I thought that the Galaxy A53 5G would be too small of an upgrade over the A52 5G, however, when I put all the improvements that Samsung has managed to muster up, I can't say that's the case. More battery life is always a good thing to have, and the A53 5G has a better one than the already good A52 5G from last year. The display and audio quality are an impressive wombo combo, adding a lot to the phone's value and making it a great device for enjoying lots of media. Downsides like the bad haptics can easily be overlooked, but when it comes to the A52's gaming performance, now that's a different story. Maybe with a few updates, Samsung will be able to utilize the Exynos 1280 in a better way, but as it stands right now, it is a bit of a letdown, and playing games is just okay. The camera system, on the other hand, seems to have benefited a lot from the new chip and both photos and video seem more polished in more ways than one, despite the camera-specific hardware remaining the same. Long story short, the Galaxy A53 5G is a solid all-rounder, even more than its predecessor.

When I saw the announcement for the Galaxy A53, I did not get that excited since I did not expect a sub-$450 Samsung phone was worth considering. After a few weeks of using the phone, I now question why I'm spending twice the price, and more, for the latest flagships. Granted, photo quality is better with the high-end flagships, but I'm just capturing and sharing photos with family and friends as an amateur. I have limited photo skills and am not going to win any photo contests, so I don't really care about having the ultimate shooter in my hand. While the display's high refresh rate is fantastic, I do see a bit of lag in content appearing on the display and when switching apps from time to time. It really only bothers me if I jump over to a flagship and can see the differences, but for the low $450 price, it is clearly an acceptable compromise and one that the majority of owners are unlikely to notice. One function that bothers me on my iPhone 13 Pro Max is that I have to stand 20 feet away from someone to get a good portrait shot outside.

At the end of the day, I recommend picking up this phone if you enjoy consuming content and you want the latest and greatest software from Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G hits all the important spec points, with a great design and display. There's no shortage of mid-range phones that provide a similar experience for less - and this is no big jump from the A52 - but there are still some very good reasons to choose the A53.

If you’re totally snap-happy and you want an affordable new phone, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G will be a great choice. It’s one of the best cheap phones for point-and-shoot photography, you'll be hard-pushed to find any others with such an accomplished camera system below $500 / £400. Granted there are some downsides. The most damning is its performance, it lacks power which will be frustrating for those who spend a lot of time flicking through their phone. You might also struggle with the slow charge times and the lack of wireless charging. But if those are things you can look past then it will be worth it, especially if you already own other Samsung Galaxy devices. To sum things up, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G has a great screen, a killer camera, easy-to-use software, incredible battery life and it’s all packed into an up-to-date phone that looks the part as well. It’d be hard not to recommend to anyone on a budget. The only reason I would tell you not to buy this is if you already own the A52 because it’s not different enough to justify the upgrade.

At $450, the A53 costs $50 less than the A52 5G. That may seem like a bonus, but Samsung doesn’t ship the phone with a wall charger anymore and it hasn’t added wireless charging. The company’s 25W power adapter costs an extra $20. In addition to the Galaxy Buds Live promotion I mentioned earlier, the company is currently offering up to $100 off the A53 if you trade in your existing device. Had Samsung done more to future-proof the A53, it would be easier for me to recommend. But with a middling chipset and a camera that feels stuck in the past, you’re better off spending your money on a phone that you’ll be happy with for years to come.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 smartphone comes with 5G support at an expected price of $380 (Rs 28,000 in India) approx. The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G carries a 6.5 inches Super AMOLED display panel with a 120Hz refresh rate support. This FHD screen is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. For software, you get the latest Android 12 OS with One UI 4.1 user interface. Besides this, the handset provides 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM support with 128GB/256GB internal storage with a microSDXC card slot. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Galaxy A53 equips a rear Quad camera setup featuring a 64MP primary camera, 12MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and 5MP depth lens. You get various modes and filters in the camera module. Apart from this, you will also receive a 32MP selfie camera lens at the front, and with this setup, you can record 4K videos at 30fps. Furthermore, the phone carries a 5nm Exynos 1280 chipset that reaches up to a 2.4GHz clocking speed. The smartphone has provided a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery with a 25W fast charging support.

The Galaxy A53 5G is at an odd spot in the phone market. There simply aren't a lot of $450 phones in the US, because most Americans either opt to pay for a high-end model on a monthly payment plan, or purchase a cheaper one upfront. At the $450 price point, the Google Pixel 5a 5G dominates, and the A53 doesn't have much new to bring to the conversation. We like its premium design, colorful screen, and flexible imaging options, but if you're on a payment plan, it's worth stepping up to more expensive Android phones such as the Galaxy S21 FE or the Pixel 6. And although the upcoming OnePlus Nord N20 and the Galaxy A33 probably won’t include specs that match the A53, they might be inexpensive enough that you can avoid a long-term contract with your carrier. Finally, despite its smaller screen and lack of a camera night mode, Apple’s affordable iPhone SE is also worth your attention thanks to its impressive hardware performance.

The Galaxy A53 is a great phone for $449. It outperforms the Pixel 5a in benchmarks and even goes a decent while on a charge. The 120Hz display is really nice, especially at this price. I wish it was an adaptive refresh rate, but not even the more expensive Galaxy S21 FE sports one of those. The looming threat on the horizon is the Pixel 6a, which might be right around the corner. Rumors say that handset will use the same Tensor chip that’s in the Pixel 6. If true, the 6a is going to be a force to be reckoned with, and the Galaxy A53 may not be able to weather that storm. We’ll have to see. But right now, I’m confident in saying that the Galaxy A53 is the best cheap Android phone. The iPhone SE (2022) is more powerful, but the A53 has the bigger and brighter display (plus a higher refresh rate). The ultrawide camera and dedicated night mode also go a long way to making the case for the Galaxy A53.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is an excellent indicator of where the budget phone market is headed. It offers a well-rounded experience that should suit the needs of most users and a price tag that won’t make your wallet hurt too badly. Add in Samsung’s excellent update commitment, and you’ve got an affordable device that’ll stay current long after others have retired.

The Galaxy A series has been Samsung's best-selling line for quite some time now. That's no coincidence since the "A family" went through a transformative period a while back and has been laser-focused on consistently delivering great value across the midrange and budget segments. Unfortunately, that focus seems to be blurring a bit lately. We didn't particularly like the Galaxy A13, which we reviewed not long ago, and now the Galaxy A53 5G underdelivered as well. Taking all of this into account, we just can't bring ourselves to outright recommend anybody go out and deliberately seek an A53s 5G. Again, at the risk of repeating ourselves, it's a solid and well-rounded Samsung that won't disappoint in any major way if you happen to get one through a great deal, on contract or as a company unit. If it's your money on the line, though, you are much better off getting last year's Galaxy A52s 5G or perhaps the Galaxy S20 FE 5G instead.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G has great cameras, battery life and a good display. It is supposed to be an all-rounder but as compared to completion it is found wanting. We are of the opinion iQOO 9 SE has an edge over A53 5G in terms of value for money tag. The mid-range segment is flooded with a bunch of options from various OEMs and currently, we feel that the bar has been set by the iQOO 9 SE at Rs 33,990. For Rs 34,999, Samsung is now offering you the 6/128 model of its newest Galaxy A53 5G and at Rs 35,999, you can get the top-of-the-line 8/128 model. However, does it seem worth in front of competitors such as Realme GT Neo 2, iQOO 9 SE, etc? Let’s take a look.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is a capable premium smartphone but falls short compared in terms of raw performance. This is mainly due to the new SoC, which seems as though it would be a good enough fit for the budget Galaxy M33 5G (Rs. 18,999), but not for a phone that costs Rs. 35,000. Daylight camera performance is quite good, and this is the only phone we've reviewed in this segment with an IP67 rating. Unfortunately for the Galaxy A53 5G, the Galaxy A52s 5G (Review), its predecessor, offers better gaming performance, has a headphone jack, and comes with a charger in the box. It also costs a bit less (around Rs. 32,499) which makes it the better buy. As for competition from other manufacturers, the iQoo 9 SE (starting at Rs. 33,990) is the Galaxy A53 5G's biggest potential competitor. We are yet to review this phone, but it has a better Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and you get a 66W charger in the box. The base variant also has 8GB of RAM, so even just going by specifications, it poses a threat.

The $449 Pixel 5A with 5G also gives Samsung a healthy run for its money. That phone has a nearly borderless screen, an ultrawide camera, night mode photography, a headphone jack and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with solid performance. Plus, Google typically brings exclusive features to its own Pixel devices before launching them for other Android phones. But it's missing some other perks you'd get with the Galaxy A53 5G, like an in-screen fingerprint scanner (the Pixel's sensor is on the back), a 120Hz refresh rate for its display, expandable storage and an extra year of Android OS upgrades. Overall, the Galaxy A53 5G has a lot to offer for the price, with the right balance of features for most people. The Galaxy A53 5G is an easy pick if you live in the US and you’re looking to spend less than $500 on an Android phone. The Google Pixel 5A is basically the phone’s only competition, but it’s likely to be replaced soon and has a shorter shelf life at this point with only a couple more OS updates headed to it. You’d get a better camera and better software without all of the Samsung duplicates, but it’s not sold through any carriers if you’re looking to subsidize it with your wireless plan. Aside from waiting for the Google Pixel 6A, the other option would be to spend more and go for the Pixel 6. Google seems to have addressed some early bugs with Android 12 security patches, and for $599, it’s a fantastic device with an excellent camera and lovely software. But it’s significantly more expensive — an extra $150. If you’re not picky about getting the very best image quality and you like (or at least don’t mind) Samsung’s version of Android 12, then there really isn’t a compelling case for spending the extra money.

The Galaxy A53 is everything we expect of a Samsung mid-range phone. The experience is quite pacifying, mostly thanks to the palatable software and good-quality display, but it’s also let down by a mediocre chipset. If you are into gaming, phones like the OnePlus 9R, OnePlus Nord 2, iQOO 9 SE or perhaps even Galaxy A52s should offer better value. The Galaxy A53 is an allrounder with a lot to look forward to. It has an appealing design, offers decent camera performance for the price, and assures a reliable battery backup. At the same time, the mid-range Exynos chip hampers the experience. The lack of a charging adaptor in the box and slow charging speeds are other peeve points.

So, at the end of the day, the Galaxy A53 5G is still a solid phone to get today. It’s a great all-rounder mid-range smartphone that has good performance for day-to-day use with some gaming on the side, good battery life, excellent software – and excellent software support as well. The price though, I am still rather salty at that extreme price hike over the Galaxy A52. At RM1,849 – I just think it’s rather steep. If you have that budget to spend for a phone like this, then go on ahead. The Galaxy A53 5G is a solid phone overall. However, if you’re looking for an even better deal, then maybe take a look at the Galaxy A52s 5G from late last year. It doesn’t have that extensive software support, but you can get it for less than RM1,500 through retailers now. That is a much better deal, in my opinion.

For many, the Galaxy A53 5G, which starts at Rs 34,499, will be sufficient for their needs. It’s not the best smartphone made by Samsung, but the idea of having a mid-range phone with premium features makes it a lot more capable than rivals. The cameras on the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G remain seemingly unchanged over what you get with the Galaxy A52s 5G. There's a 64-megapixel primary camera with optical stabilisation (OIS), a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 123-degree field of view, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel depth camera. A 32-megapixel camera on the front takes care of selfies. One of the main changes with the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G over its predecessor is Samsung's switch to an Exynos SoC. This smartphone uses a new Exynos 1280 SoC which is also expected to show up in other Samsung smartphones this year. The previous Samsung Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A52s 5G had Qualcomm-powered SoCs, so it will be interesting to see how the Exynos one compares. This will also be one of the factors that decides the Galaxy A53 5G's overall value, keeping in mind its premium price tag. So, stay tuned for our full review, which will be out soon.

Will Samsung fix that with software updates? Can Samsung fix that with software updates? I don’t know, but as it stands, I don’t think I can recommend buying the Galaxy A53 5G if a phone that performs well in day-to-day use is what you’re looking for. The Galaxy A52s is the better choice in that case, even if it’s a little old and won’t get four years of OS upgrades (it won’t go past Android 14 vs Android 16 on the A53). But if you do want to take the plunge, the Galaxy A53 5G does have a lot going for it. The display’s great, the stereo speakers are nice, battery life is long-lasting, the cameras take great pictures in all sorts of conditions, and while the design uses too much plastic, the A53 is still a looker and is certified for excellent water and dust resistance. And again, a promise of updates till Android 16? That’s just unbeatable and makes the Galaxy A53 5G stand out from the crowd (a crowd that’s got both Samsung and non-Samsung phones in it). I just hope the performance issues are fixed soon, because everything else about this phone is impressive for the asking price.

We’ve been impressed by it during the course of our Galaxy A53 hands-on and look forward to testing it in more detail for the full review. Sporting similar designs and internals, just what is the difference between the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G? After spending some time with the duo we have a good idea of the strengths of each handset and which might be the better choice.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G follows on from a phone that was not just a great seller for Samsung, but a phone we also rated highly. There are some incremental upgrades here which we still have to explore in our full review, but first impressions are good. There's a great design - with waterproofing adding a premium touch - fronted by a high-quality display. New core hardware promises more power, while the main camera should be capable enough. A bigger battery might just seal the deal and deliver a great experience for those who want something slightly more affordable. We will deliver a full and updated verdict on the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G as soon as we can.

For the impressive price, the Galaxy A53 5G ticks a lot of boxes. The addition of an adaptive refresh rate and OIS over its predecessor are two welcome features, while the chipset should offer nippy performance.

The Galaxy A53 5G is set to be a well-rounded rival to this year’s high-priced flagships. If your sights are set on the Galaxy S22 but you don’t have the funds required to buy one, then there’s a good chance that this year’s A53 5G will be the next best thing. Of course, we’ll find out soon when we receive a handset for review. In the meantime, the Galaxy A53 5G is available from 1 April in the UK at a SIM-free price of £399.

At £379 for the A33 5G and £399 for the A53 5G, we’re impressed both phones cram in so much, and overjoyed we’re not seeing piddly 64GB storage capacities and mediocre screens in midrange Samsung phones anymore. The Galaxy A53 5G, in particular, seems perfect for someone who wants Galaxy S22 experiences without the flagship price. Meanwhile, the A33 5G loses a little more screen to that notch, scales back the refresh rate and reduces the megapixels. That said, pretty much everything else is identical across both phones, from the in-display fingerprint scanners to the IP67 water and dust resistance, through to massive batteries and capable 5nm processors. Expected to launch for pre-order right now, and be available for purchase either at the end of March or the beginning of April 2022, if you’re a Samsung fan in need of a cost-effective upgrade, both these phones should be blipping your radar.

Samsung is up for an interesting battle in the mid-range segment in the Philippines with the Galaxy A53. Save for a bump in battery capacity (at the expense of the headphone jack) and a new Exynos processor, Samsung chose to go for the tried-and-tested formula of the Galaxy A52/52S for its latest premium mid-range phone.

At the end of the day, the Galaxy A53 5G is seemingly an incremental improvement over the A52 5G. Despite that, it does manage to bring something new to the table like a significantly better processor, better stereo speakers, and a slightly larger battery. Make sure you come back, to check out our full detailed review of the Galaxy A53 5G, where we will give you a more in-depth look inside what's new and better, compared to the previous models and competitors.

ARM Mali-G68 MP4:
