Critiques pour le/la Motorola Moto G Power 5G

The Moto G Power 5G is a good budget-friendly phone. It has a simple design with a fast screen, fine performance numbers, and better-than-average battery life, but the cameras don't impress, and competing phones have better upgrade paths. The Pixel 6a offers excellent performance and packs one of the best cameras for the price, while the Nord N30 5G posts similar numbers across the board in a more appealing piece of hardware with better cameras. If you absolutely need a long-lasting battery, the Moto G Power 5G 2023 has you covered, but if you can give up an hour or so of uptime, the rapid-charging OnePlus Nord N30 5G is our Editors' Choice pick in this segment.

The Moto G Power 5G is a phone that brings its hardhat and lunch pail to work every day. Much like the Toyota Camry, it will do the job without giving you too many frills. Unfortunately, there are other phones in the same price range that do have the ability to electrify you while still being just as reliable an experience. If you love a relatively stock Android experience but are allergic to Pixels for some reason, pick one up. Also, if battery life is your main deciding factor for a smartphone, it might be worth a look. As for the rest of us, I’d suggest spending your money elsewhere.

When reviewing a phone, I normally can't wait to get back to my daily driver. However, with the Moto G Power 5G, I found myself using the phone a little longer than usual, as it works well enough that I wasn't exactly pining to get back to my Galaxy flagship. Battery life is good, the design is good, the camera is pretty good, and the software is mostly good. The Moto G Power 5G is a good phone, and I think that's saying a lot for a $300 smartphone. Yes, I wish the cameras were more interesting and tuned just a smidge more. I wish Motorola would give the phone more than one OS upgrade. I really wish charging was faster to match the battery life. With a name like "Moto G Power 5G," one expects the phone to really be about power and performance. While I'm not quite sure this phone exemplifies "power," I think it does a good enough job of offering just what someone would want from a phone in this price range.

The Motorola Moto G Power 2023 does compromise with the high-end performance, fast charging, additional camera lens, and better display quality. But still, if you look at it from the mid-range segment perspective, there is a whole list of things that falls on the positive side. Whether we talk about a fast refresh rate or additional 5G connectivity. But we all know that Motorola phones are incomplete with the near-stock Android experience, which is also seen in this device. But sadly, there’s no news regarding the official release on the global market since the device is currently available to the US-exclusive market. But if you are looking for a better alternative, you can get the Realme 10 Pro, and even then it would be an option when it comes to customization. Finally, choose the phone according to your wish.

There’s a lot to like about the Moto G Power 5G, but it’s also a letdown in a lot of crucial places. With the lock button/fingerprint scanner, I ran into numerous usability issues where simple things that would have only taken a second (such as checking the time) ended up being 15-second diversions. The cameras are great, especially for the price, but opening the camera app can cause a stutter that takes a few seconds to sort out as the Dimensity 930 processor tries to find its footing. And again, a phone without NFC in 2023 is just ridiculous. If you’re OK with having a phone that teaches you how to be patient, then the Moto G Power 5G is a solid pick. But it’s also worth remembering that there are plenty of other options. The Galaxy A14 5G offers a fairly similar experience for just $200. If you have a little extra cash to spend, the $450 Galaxy A54 is another incredible purchase.

The Moto G Power 5G works very well if you mainly plan to use the phone for calls, texting, watching videos and playing games. You get a lot for $300, such as a 6.5-inch 120Hz refresh rate screen and a phone that comes unlocked. If you are using Verizon, the Power 5G might be your only option for a device under $300 without being on sale, and if that's the case, then it's a pretty decent one. However if you are using AT&T or T-Mobile, I highly suggest looking into the OnePlus N20 5G or the OnePlus N300. Both phones have better cameras than the Power 5G, charge faster and include NFC. However Motorola beats OnePlus in security update support, which could be more appealing to someone that plans to use the phone until it breaks.

In the end, this is the best Moto G Power model in several years, but Motorola wants you to pay the price for all its renewed power, both literally and figuratively. I can live with the $50 increase over the previous generation; that covers the 5G and increased RAM and storage, as well as all the other quality-of-life improvements. But the ads and tailored bloatware are a relatively high price to pay when stacked against the best in the affordable Android scene. Samsung’s Galaxy A14 5G ($199.99 at Samsung) is a great pick that offers several of the Moto G Power 5G’s best features for $100 less. It packs a similar camera setup, an outstanding update policy commitment, and a Galaxy S23-inspired design. Samsung’s budget device also hangs onto the headphone jack, though it does drop stereo playback for a single speaker. The OnePlus Nord N300 ($228 at T-Mobile) might be worth a look as well, especially if you crave fast charging speeds. It bumps from the 10-15W rates of many budget phones up to 33W and still comes with a charger in the box. It’s just a shame OnePlus only offers two years of any kind of software support. If you’re willing to stretch your budget a bit further, you can get quite a lot more for your money. The Google Pixel 6a ($299 at Amazon) mixes some of the best flagship Pixel features, like the Tensor chip, light, smooth software, and elite photography, all at a more than reasonable price. The cheapest Pixel also picks up an aluminum frame, which feels more premium in the hand than Motorola’s plastic chassis. We’re expecting the Pixel 7a to break cover soon with even more upgrades, too, in case you’re willing to wait. Samsung’s Galaxy A54 5G ($449.99 at Samsung) is another stretch pick, and it looks, feels, and often acts like a budget Galaxy S23. You also get Samsung’s four years of Android updates and five years of security patches, which is simply unbeatable compared to Motorola and even Google.

Imagination IMG BXM-8-256:
