Le AMD Ryzen 7 6800U est un processeur pour ordinateurs portables fins et légers basé sur la génération Rembrandt. Le R7 6800U intègre les huit cœurs basés sur la microarchitecture Zen 3+. Ils sont cadencés de 2,7 (horloge de base garantie) à 4,7 GHz (Turbo) et prennent en charge le SMT / Hyperthreading (16 threads). La puce est fabriquée selon le processus moderne de 6 nm chez TSMC. Par rapport au R7 6800H, le 6800U offre une vitesse d'horloge de base inférieure et un TDP plus faible.
Le nouveau Zen 3+ est un rafraîchissement de l'architecture Zen 3 et ne devrait pas offrir beaucoup de changements. La puce elle-même offre cependant beaucoup de nouvelles fonctionnalités, comme la prise en charge de l'USB 4 (40 Gbps), PCI-E Gen 4, DDR5-4800MT/s ou LPDDR5-6400MT/s, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth LE 5.2, DisplayPort 2, et le décodage AV1.
Les performances du processeur devraient être nettement supérieures à celles de l'ancien Ryzen 7 5800U grâce à l'amélioration de la vitesse d'horloge. Cependant, les nouveaux processeurs Alder Lake U et P-series, comme le i7-1280P, devraient offrir des performances supérieures.
Une grande nouveauté est le GPU intégré Radeon 680M, qui est maintenant basé sur l'architecture RDNA2 et offre 12 CUs jusqu'à 2,2 GHz. Il devrait être l'iGPU le plus rapide au moment de l'annonce.
Le TDP de l'APU est spécifié entre 15 et 28 Watt (par défaut). L'efficacité énergétique devrait être très bonne, grâce au processus 6nm amélioré et aux fonctions d'économie d'énergie supplémentaires de la série 6000.
